Well that was a busy couple of weeks! It all began back on the 7th of August at the Fistral Beach Bar for Boardmasters Festival. Having turned up to find our designated space filled with photography, we decided to improvise and set up a nice little pop-up shop on the balcony in the sunshine.
After speaking with the event organisers we were moved up to Watergate to the VIP bar tent. We set our exhibition up on the Thursday ready for it to kick off on Friday, you’ll probably be aware of this from our updates on Facebook.
Our stand consisted of 5 boards with two new additions being the Burnt Spud and the Gassor. Also on show was our new range of digitally crafted handplanes inspired by flat fish, we hung these fishes from twine in the sunshine and they looked great. Overall we had a great weekend at the festival and were lucky enough to see some great music and sneak a surf in down at Watergate on the Saturday.
The following weekend we were over at Trereife House for Cornwall Design Fair, you’ll find a nice review about it all here. We had an excellent weekend with lots of interest in our handplanes on the Saturday, must have been because of the rain all the beach goers came to the Fair! Dave was busy building a board while people came in and had a gander at our stand while also admiring our friend Chris Thorpe’s work, who we shared our nice big tent with.
The weekend following that James and Jake took the CNC Chambered board up to the Making Waves plastic awareness and art exhibition at Shambala Festival so Driftwood has been all over the place. It’s not over yet either, we are excited to be heading down to Outlaw Craft Fair on the 14th of September. So if you haven’t seen us already this summer, and you’re not sick of us, come on down to Penzance and pick up a handplane or a new board for the long awaited September swells, can’t wait!
